It’s no secret that, as we climb the age ladder, we don’t have nearly the same amount of energy that we did when we were younger. It seems like every day, we just feel more and more tired and lethargic. But since we doubt seniors want to spend their days sitting at home because of how sluggish they feel, you should get them to do a few things that can increase their daily energy levels.
Get Plenty of Sleep
This goes for anyone of any age. Without the right amount of sleep, there’s no way for your body to rest and replenish your energy, so you spend the day feeling groggy and exhausted. Seniors should aim to get at least eight hours of sleep each night — more if they’re recovering from an illness or medical procedure.
Eat the Right Foods
You may be a fan of carbs, but your energy levels aren’t. Instead of carbs, you should aim to eat a good amount of lean proteins, such as chicken or tuna. Eggs can also be great energy boosters as well as some legumes, such as nuts and peas.
Take the Right Supplements
Sometimes, your diet alone can’t provide with your enough energy-booster nutrients, so you should also take some supplements to help your body. Taking Vitamin A, B, C, & D as well as folate can help increase your daily energy and prevent you from feeling tired.
Do Certain Exercises
While some exercises help build muscle and strength, others can help you feel energized. Try taking an aerobics class or going for a brisk walk. Even just dancing around your living room can help keep your energy levels up.
